Know Where
You Can
Carry
Planning a road trip? Visiting family in another state? The first question every concealed carrier asks: does this state honor my permit?
Digging through government websites and cross-referencing outdated PDFs is nobody's idea of preparation. So we built something better.
Introducing the HexCore CCW Reciprocity Map — a free interactive tool covering all 50 states and Washington D.C.
Click your permit state. See where you can carry — instantly. Free, no sign-up required.
Click. See. Know.
Open the map and click the state where your concealed carry permit was issued. The entire map instantly color-codes to show you which states honor your permit, which offer constitutional carry, which have restrictions, and which don't recognize your license at all.
Click any other state on the map and a detail panel slides in with the full breakdown — permit type, constitutional carry status, minimum age, open carry rules, training requirements, duty to inform, and a direct link to that state's official resources.
Three clicks. Full picture. Every state.
Read the Map at a Glance
When you select your permit state, every state on the map lights up with a color based on how it treats your permit:
The sidebar gives you the counts at a glance — how many states honor, how many don't — with sorted lists you can click through for quick access to any state's details.
Where Things Stand
As of 2026, 29 states have constitutional carry — meaning anyone legally permitted to possess a firearm can carry concealed without a permit. Florida and Utah non-resident permits remain the most widely recognized across the country.
On the flip side, 8 states still don't honor any out-of-state permits — California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
No single CCW permit is valid in all 50 states. Reciprocity varies dramatically — which is exactly why we built this tool.
Built for Carriers, Not Lawyers
We designed the map to give you the information you actually need — fast, visual, and without the legal jargon. Here's what's included for every state:
- Click-to-explore interactive map — no forms, no dropdowns required. Just click your state.
- Full state detail panels with permit type, constitutional carry status, min age, training requirements, open carry, and duty to inform
- Sidebar stats showing how many states honor your permit at a glance, sorted by category
- Direct links to each state's official government resources for the most up-to-date rules
- Built-in "How to Use" guide right below the map with step-by-step instructions and color explanations
- "Set as My Permit State" button inside any detail panel to quickly switch your view
Carry Responsibly
Always verify with official state sources. We update the map regularly, but laws change — sometimes fast. Before you carry across state lines, double-check with the destination state's attorney general or law enforcement website.
Follow the destination state's laws, not yours. Even if a state honors your permit, their rules on magazine capacity, ammo types, prohibited locations, signage, and duty to inform may be completely different from what you're used to at home.
Plan your route. If you're driving through multiple states, check every one along the way. A single "no honor" state on your path can mean serious legal consequences — even if you're just passing through.
⚠ States like New York and New Jersey are known for aggressive enforcement against out-of-state visitors. Even accidental violations can result in felony charges with mandatory minimum sentences. Do not carry in these states without their specific permit.
For the Community
We're a gun accessory company based in Central Florida. Most of our customers carry. And every time someone asked us about reciprocity — what states honor Florida permits, whether they can carry on their next trip — we found ourselves pointing them to the same handful of scattered resources that were hard to navigate and sometimes outdated.
We figured: if we're going to serve this community, we should build a tool that actually helps. Something fast, visual, and accurate. Something you can pull up on your phone before a road trip and get your answer in three clicks.
This map is a resource for the community — completely free, no sign-up, no paywall. Just useful information for responsible gun owners.
